Connecticut State Senator Joe Markley Attends Connecticut Vending Association Membership Meeting

Nov. 18, 2014

(CHICAGO)  November 17, 2014 – The Connecticut Vending Association (CVA) hosted State Senator Joe Markley (R-16th District) at its membership meeting on Thursday, November 13. During the meeting, Sen. Markley met with CVA’s leaders, membership, and lobbyist Dolores Malloy to discuss issues facing the industry within the state of Connecticut.

“It was a pleasure to have Sen. Markley visit with the CVA membership and discuss our industry,” Malloy said. “During our time together, we discussed our business and the challenges that impact us, particularly taxes and regulatory issues on the state level.  We also discussed key federal legislation, including the latest USDA requirements for schools.”

“Sen. Markley’s visit reflects an enhanced effort by the CVA as a state council committed to educate elected officials about our industry,” said Eric Mueller, CVA Legislative Chairman. “It is essential to our advocacy efforts to have lawmakers who are familiar with the vending and refreshment services industry and recognize the impact that legislation has on our members,” he concluded.

Sen. Markley was first elected to the Connecticut Senate in 1984 with a district that includes the communities of Cheshire, Prospect, Southington, Wolcott and Waterbury.  A fiscal conservative, Sen. Markley has worked throughout the state to organize grassroots efforts to reduce the cost and size of government and oppose tax increases. He has been employed as executive director of state and national trade associations, and as campaign manager for congressional and statewide races. Sen. Markley also co-founded the Connecticut Taxpayers Committee and helped lead the fight against the state income tax.
