Successful Event At Oxon Hill High School

Oct. 27, 2014

October 23, 2014 – The event, which took place at Prince George’s County Public Schools, was themed “Get in the Game with School Lunch.” Audrey Rowe, Administrator for the Food and Nutrition Service, USDA enjoyed lunch with students, selected a snack from school’s new vending machines from Monumental Vending, and discussed the importance of balancing healthy eating and physical activity.

School Lunch is an important part of a student’s health, development, and academic success. Accordingly, Congress passed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act in 2010 with bipartisan support to help ensure every American child has access to the nutrition they need to grow into healthy adults. During National School Lunch Week, USDA celebrates healthy strides and highlights innovative strategies to help schools nourish their students.
