National Cancer Institute researchers looking at how consumption of decaffeinated coffee may benefit liver health report that regardless of the caffeine content, drinking coffee does seem to protect the liver, according to Science Daily. Combined with a different study from Hepatology, a journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the research suggests that a chemical compound in coffee other than caffeine, lowers the levels of abnormal liver enzymes, thus improving liver health.
