NAMA Files Comments With The U.S. Department Of Energy On Refrigeration Testing Standards

Oct. 9, 2014

(CHICAGO)  October 9, 2014 -NAMA filed comments Tuesday with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regarding the potential impact of changes to current refrigeration testing standards on the vending and refreshments industry, according to Eric Dell, NAMA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.

The comments were filed on behalf of the refreshment services industry in response to the DOE’s request for public comment , as the department  considers amending energy conservation and testing standards for refrigerated beverage vending machines (BVMs), as required by federal law - (42 U.S.C. 6295(m)(1).

Manufacturers have been required to comply with the DOE’s energy conservation testing standards for refrigerated BVM’s since 2012. These machines dispense cooled bottles or cans of beverages, and are installed inside or outside of commercial, residential and public buildings including gas stations, hotels and motels, apartments or dormitories and government buildings.

“NAMA consulted with our vending equipment partners to draft and file this submission and we will continue to work together to assess the impact of these proposed changes moving forward,” Dell said.

“Staying on top of these potential changes and keeping our industry informed on how it may be impacted is critical, and we appreciate the support and collaboration from our industry partners on this matter.”
