Researchers Identify New Gene Variations Linked To Coffee Consumption

A study by the Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital researchers identified six new gene variations linked to coffee and caffeine consumption, according to the Boston Globe. The research analyzed the results of nearly 120,000 coffee drinkers. Participants who had inherited six of the gene variations were found to have a higher likelihood of being heavy coffee drinkers than those who had one or two gene variations. The study was published by the journal Molecular Psychiatry.
