Lavazza Launches Specialty Coffee Blends In K-Cup® Pack Format

Aug. 4, 2014

New York, NY (July 31, 2014) – Lavazza, a family-owned company since 1895 with over a century of expertise in coffee making, serves as a cultural symbol of Italian coffee around the world.  Starting fall 2014, in partnership with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc., Lavazza will bring the authenticity of Italy’s favorite coffee to K-Cup® packs for the Keurig® hot brewing system.

With just the touch of a button, Americans will be able to sip on Lavazza’s high quality coffee with the ease of a Keurig® brewer.  The Lavazza K-Cup® packs will be available in a range of taste profiles including Gran Aroma (medium roast, smooth and aromatic with citrusy notes), Classico (medium roast, rich and full-bodied with hints of dried fruit), Gran Selezione (dark roast, intense and chocolaty) and Perfetto (espresso roast, dark and velvety with a lingering caramel finish).

In 2012, GMCR and Lavazza partnered to launch the Keurig®Rivo™ Cappuccino and Latte System, delivering an innovative new brewing platform designed exclusively for the North American espresso-based beverage drinker.  Lavazza’s Global CEO, Antonio Baravalle, comments, “We are thrilled to build upon our successful partnership on the Keurig®Rivo™ System with GMCR to leverage their single cup brewing technology and bring our premium coffee blends into the homes of coffee connoisseurs everywhere.”

The new Lavazza K-Cup® packs will be available in 10 count (SRP: $8.79 / pack – Classico and Perfetto only), 16 count ($11.99 / pack – all varieties) and 22 count ($16.79 / pack – all varieties) formats at U.S. national retail stores including Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Staples.  Consumers can purchase online at ShopLavazza.com, Keurig.com and BedBathAndBeyond.com or regionally at local grocers including Kroger, Meijer, Jewel, SuperValu and Safeway.
