Study: Dark Chocolate Could Ease Poor Leg Circulation

A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found evidence that antioxidants in dark chocolate could help ease poor leg circulation, according to HealthDay News. Dark chocolate contains antioxidants called polyphenols, which researchers believe improve blood flow to the legs by prompting arteries to widen. The study — which monitored 20 people ages 60 to 78 who suffer from peripheral artery disease — found that after eating dark chocolate, the patients walked an average of 11 percent farther and 15 percent longer than they did before they ate dark chocolate.
