California Lawmakers Seek To Aid Blind Vendors

California Assembly Bill 1602 that would remove a surcharge for blind business owners who operate vending machines at state roadside rest areas has been unanimously approved in the Assembly, according to Central Valley Business Times.

According to the news source, the bill would require the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to cover electricity costs associated with vending machines operated by the Business Enterprise Program for the Blind at state rest areas.

Assembly Bill 1602 was introduced by Assemblyman Jim Patterson and moves to the Senate for further discussion. Full article.
