Hawaii Receives Nearly $1 Million To Combat Coffee Berry Borer

Senator Mazie Hirono, Representative Tulsi Gabbard and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that they would fund $700,000 to Hawaii in order for the state to combat the coffee berry borer, according to KITV. Puerto Rico will receive $300,000. The coffee berry borer is an insect that lives and feeds in coffee berries and has caused significant damage to the coffee crop in Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
