Congressman Charles W. Boustany Jr., M.D.
NAMA member Mickal McMath of M&M Sales Co. and Moore Haus Coffee hosted U.S. Congressman Charles Boustany, R-La., at the company’s headquarters in Lafayette, La.
The congressman’s visit included a briefing session where he and McMath spoke about topics important to the industry, which ranged from healthcare reform to coin and currency issues. This was followed by a tour of the facility, where the congressman received a first-hand experience of the company’s day-to-day operations, while meeting with many of the dedicated employees who provide quality products and services to customers.
Boustany represents Louisiana’s third congressional district, covering the Southern part of the state. He serves as a senior member of the house ways and means committee, and as chairman of the subcommittee on oversight. He has been recognized for his strong leadership on a number of issues that affect small businesses.
“Our visit with Congressman Boustany was a huge success,” said McMath, a member of NAMA’s Emerging Leaders Network (ELN), in a prepared statement. “He was engaging and very responsive to our concerns. We were able to inform him of the issues before us as an industry, as well as ‘put a face’ with those issues. We hope that he has a better understanding of how our industry has been affected by current legislation and regulations, as well as the potential effect of pending ones, particularly with coin and currency. We feel like we have a new friend by our side in congress,” he concluded.
“This is a great example of advocacy in action. We thank Mickal and the entire team from M&M Sales Co. and Moore Haus Coffee for their time helping to develop this relationship, which benefits our association and industry overall,” said Sheree Edwards, NAMA legislative director.
