The Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council (GAMC) hosted State Representative Lynne Riley, R - Dist.50, at a dinner in the Atlanta, Ga. area recently.
“It was an honor to host dinner with Rep. Riley,” said Kimble Carter, GAMC president, in a prepared statement. “This was a valuable way to demonstrate the scope of the vending and refreshment services industry – especially since a significant portion of the industry in Georgia is comprised of small businesses. Rep. Riley understands that small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy, and we certainly appreciated the opportunity to convey to her the key messages on issues that are impacting the industry across the state,” he continued.
Serving in the Georgia General Assembly since 2011, Riley has been appointed by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal as the house administration floor leader. In this new role as floor leader, she will be responsible for carrying the governor's legislation and serving as the governor's office liaison to her fellow members. Rep. Riley also serves on the ways and means committee, the natural resources and environment committee, the retirement committee and MARTOC (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Oversight Committee).
“Meeting with Rep. Riley is a huge step for GAMC in promoting their advocacy initiatives this year,” said NAMA Legislative Director Sheree Edwards. “Rep. Riley has a strong reputation in the Georgia house as being supportive of legislation and policies that will keep businesses moving forward. Our members were thankful that she met with them to learn about the economic contributions that our industry provides to the state,” she said.
“This is a great example of state advocacy in action,” said Eric Dell, NAMA senior vice president of government affairs. “I thank the GAMC board and members for taking time to help foster a relationship with Rep. Riley. This type of grassroots activity is a direct benefit to the Georgia state association and the industry overall, and NAMA will continue to help propel efforts like this on the state level.”
