Hawaii Big Island Mayor Signs Bill Prohibiting GMO Production

Big Island Mayor Bill Kenoi signed a bill banning farmers from growing genetically modified organisms on the island, according to Big Island Video News. Bill 113 also prohibits biotech companies from operating on Big Island, also known as Hawai’i Island. In a letter released from his office, Kenoi said, “With my approval of this bill, our administration will launch a year of research and data collection to investigate factual claims and to seek out new directions that farming in our community should take.” Full article.
