Nestle has announced a plan to reduce salt quantities in all of its food brands, according to Nestle’s Website. In an effort to support the World Health Organization’s target of no more than 5 grams of salt per person per day by 2025, Nestle has pledged to reduce salt content in brands such as Maggi, Stouffer’s, DiGiorno and Buitoni.
“We have made great strides in reducing the salt content of our food products in recent years and we want to build on that progress,” said Henri-Pierre Lenoble, nutrition, health and wellness manager within Nestle Food, in a prepared statement. “Our goal is to offer consumers products that enable them to make practical, healthy nutritional choices, every day,” he added.
The announcement comes after a Washington conference on dietary salt consumption organized by the Pan-American Healthy Organization, the regional Americas office of the World Health Organization. Full article.
