Washington State Votes On GMO Labeling Initiative

Residents in Washington state vote next week on ballot initiative 522 which would require food and beverage products sold in Washington to be labeled if they contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms), according to Politico. Opponents to the law argue it is misleading and will raise grocery costs, as well as manufacturing costs. The law would require front-facing labels. If passed, the legislation would go into effect on July 1, 2015. Full article.
