Mexico Lower House Congress Approves Soda, Junk Food Tax

Part of Mexico's Congress has approved a soda and sugary beverage tax, according to the New York Times. Legislators hope the tax will help curb obesity and diabetes. In June the Huffington Post reported that Mexico had a 32.8 percent adult obesity rate. The beverage industry and small business owners oppose the bill while health advocates support the legislation.
