NAMA’s senior level staff, together with NAMA members who focus on office coffee service (OCS), will meet with members of Congress at NAMA’s Public Policy Conference next week.

“We’re planning to educate legislators on the importance of office coffee service in their communities,” Eric Dell, NAMA’s senior vice president of government affairs, said in a prepared statement. “We believe that members of Congress may not have full understanding regarding the office coffee service channel and filling this information gap is a great opportunity for us.”

Specifically, the group plans to talk with legislators about the regulatory flexibility act, which protects small businesses from overly-burdensome federal regulations.

NAMA members who will participate in these discussions include NAMA Chair Pete Tullio of Gourmet Coffee Service, Howard Chapman of Royal Cup Inc., Howard Fischer of U.S. Roasterie, Steve Hyde of BrewTek, industry veteran Geoff Paul, Butch Winkler of Holiday House Distributing, Paul Tullio of Gourmet Coffee Service and Mickal McMath of Moore Haus Coffee.

“This group is a mix of industry veterans and emerging leaders,” Dell said. “I know members of Congress will be impressed with their knowledge and the important work they do in creating jobs in their hometown communities.”  Dell said he did not expect the Capitol Hill meetings to be cancelled because of the government shutdown.
