Utah Schools Fear Vending Rules Will Drive Kids Off Campuses

The USDA's “Smart Snacks In Schools” legislation leaves Utah schools debating vending options for the upcoming 2014 to 2015 school year including the fear of more students opting to leave at lunch, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Vending machines are currently the main competition for lunch and breakfast programs and therefore restricting the food inside will drive even more students from campus and lessen school vending earnings, believe administrators.
