Healthy Options In Vending Could Mean Lower Profits In Iowa

The Cedar Falls, Iowa, city council recently approved a vending contract for machines at various recreational properties for $12,500 less guaranteed commission but with healthy offerings, according to the WCF Courier. Bids from Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Dr Pepper/Snapple were submitted, and after asking Dr Pepper/Snapple to submit a new proposal with healthier options, its proposal was chosen. At least 50 percent of the products will be designated green or yellow indicating they are healthier options. The estimated proposal gives the city $59,721, down from the original number of $72,221.
