Over 40 percent of Americans eat at least two snacks a day, according to a recent poll by The Hartman Group. According to their online survey, only 17 percent reported eating one snack, while 41 percent ate three or more daily.

Afternoon was the most common snacking time with 56 percent of respondents eating from 2 to 5 p.m. In the morning, 34 percent snacked, and 31 percent snacked during lunch time.

A majority considered healthy snacks important, but the most commonly mentioned snack foods were chips and soda. Infographic.
