US Foods Expands Memphis Distribution Center

Dec. 19, 2012

US Foods recently celebrated the expansion of its distribution center in Memphis, Tenn. The expansion more than doubled the size of the previous facility and will enable the company to better serve customers throughout West Tennessee, West Kentucky, East Arkansas and North Mississippi. The newly expanded building was also dedicated to former Memphis Division President, Joe Campbell who passed away earlier this year.

Among the many improvements to the facility, is a new state-of-the-art kitchen where the company will host product demonstrations for customers and an on-site truck repair shop.

“With more than double the storage capacity of our previous facility, we can significantly increase our product offerings for customers,” said Jimmy Kiser, Memphis division president, US Foods. “Our new state-of-the-art kitchen will allow us to showcase our innovative products to our customers in a new way and help inspire them to keep their menus fresh.”

The division marked the event by hosting a celebration for local dignitaries, customers and employees. During the event the building was officially dedicated to Joe Campbell, who played an instrumental role in the expansion project.

“The growth of the Memphis division is a true testament to the dedication Joe Campbell had to the Memphis division, its employees and the community,” said Kiser. “We are honored to be able to dedicate this building to him and will always remember him as a great man who cared for those he worked with and the customers we served.”

The Memphis division has more than 375 employees and serves thousands of customers throughout the Southern region, including independent restaurants, healthcare and hospitality entities, government and educational institutions.
