Lompoc, Calif. Requires 50 Percent Healthy Snacks In City Vending Machines

The Lompoc City Council in Lompoc, Calif., passed a healthy living policy as part of the state’s Healthy Eating Active Living campaign initiative. The policy aims to encourage healthier eating and a more active lifestyle amongst Lompoc residents. Under the new policy, all vending machines will be required to include at least 50 percent healthy snacks, and city fundraiser must offer healthy food choices. Additionally, vacant city lots will now be used as community gardens until they are needed for other uses.
