Dedicated Healthy Vending Machines Replace Aramark at Illinois High School, Students Complain Of Price

Niles West High School in Skokie, Ill., has replaced vending machines from Aramark with machines dedicated to healthy vending from Lean Green Healthy Living, according to the student newspaper, Niles West News. All products use the Vending Sustainability Strategy which states that products are 35 percent or less fat per serving, less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving, and less than 480 miligrams of sodium per item. At least 95 percent of the products are completely organic. While some students complain about the lack of choices, it is the higher prices of the healthier items that raise the most objections.
