AVI Foodsystems Inc. Acquires Serex Services Inc., Based In Youngstown, Ohio

AVI Foodsystems Inc. recently acquired the assets of Youngstown, Ohio-based Serex Services Inc. from owner Len Morris for an undisclosed sum.

AVI Foodsystems Inc. recently acquired the assets of Youngstown, Ohio-based Serex Services Inc. from owner Len Morris for an undisclosed sum, according to Marc Rosset, principal of Chicago-based Professional Vending Consultants Inc., who managed the transaction. The assets include operations in Youngstown, Garfield Heights, Ohio and Dayton, Ohio.

All 22 employees will remain with AVI. The branches will be folded into existing AVI facilities.

Serex Services was founded in 1971 by the late Bill Courtney, who was active in the National Automatic Merchandising Association. At its peak in 1998, Serex Services had 13 operations in six states.

The late Bill Courtney had previously worked for Servomation, which was eventually acquired by a company that became Service America Corp., which was in turn acquired by Canteen Vending Services Inc.
