AVT, Inc. announced that a patent application has been approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent was issued on AVT-developed technology regarding a unique wireless system designed to manage a network of remote vending machines. The technology also incorporates graphical user touchscreen interfaces, which can include means for paying for items vended; and a two-way wireless network to connect the enterprise control center with the remote vending machines.

"AVT spent almost 3 years dedicated to research and development - designing componentry and entire new systems that are literally redefining the retailing world," said Shannon Illingworth, founder and chairman of AVT in a prepared statement. "Our efforts have been rewarded with several patents, which not only confirm our engineering strength, but also secure our leadership position in the automated retailing industry."

The patent covers 19 claims and was filed by Shannon Illingworth and James Winsor, and assigned to AVT, Inc.
