The PepsiCo Dream Machine recycling initiative is commemorating its second anniversary with a progress report that shares the program’s results since launching on Earth Day 2010. Nearly 94 million plastic bottles and aluminum cans diverted from landfills as a result of the Dream Machine program since 2010. Nearly 126,390 million BTUs of energy have been conserved by recycling materials captured through the Dream Machine program.
The Dream Machine recycling initiative supports PepsiCo’s goal to help increase the U.S. beverage container recycle rate to 50 percent by 2018, by providing Americans with convenient access to on-the-go recycling solutions. In addition, the more bottles and cans people recycle in Dream Machines, the more support PepsiCo will provide to the EBV, a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 U.S. veterans with disabilities.
