New York City Lawmakers Try To Halt Burger King Food Giveaways

New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and three leading colleagues sent a letter to a top Burger King executive Thursday, discouraging the fast food giant from bringing its plan for food truck grub giveways to the Big Apple, according to The New York Daily News. The entry of the big guys will draw more government scrutiny to these trucks, which is fine. Government regulatory agencies need to have rules in place to ensure public safety.

Opponents of the Burger King trucks are raising the health and wellness aspect of the products Burger King sells. But Burger King and its competitors aren’t going miss out on the opportunity to meet customers’ needs; if menu adjustments are called for, so be it.
