Additional new education sessions this year include:

Wednesday, April 25

Coffee strategic plan, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Discover innovative ideas and opportunities for growth in office coffee, water and tea.  NAMA Coffee Committee Chairman Howard Chapman will present a comprehensive strategic plan for the coffee service market. The plan is built around the pillars of education, networking and advocacy. It also includes business-building ideas, engaging ways to celebrate National Coffee Day and National Coffee Week, thoughts on how tea can increase a member's profitability, and more.

Cold beverage trends and strategic insights, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Representing the largest segment of food and beverage vending, cold beverages have accounted for 28 percent of total sales in our industry for the last five years.  Ross Colbert, executive director and global strategist at RaboBank International, will share with attendees the current state of cold beverage vending, as well as what the industry will look like by 2017. The session will provide key insights into cold beverage trends and share the successful growth strategies employed by major players in the industry.

Consumer Engagement Through Social Media 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This interactive session, facilitated by Dan Avenick, director of vending strategy at Coca-Cola, will show attendees how to take advantage of social media networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn, to drive business growth, engage customers and create a differentiated consumer experience and relationship. The session will highlight both the benefits and challenges of social media. A panel discussion focused on case studies of successfully implemented social media programs is also included.

Thursday, April 26

Micro market panel, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Self-checkout is the latest trend in the vending industry. Combining variety, flexibility and easy-to-use technology, consumers and operators alike are excited about this new concept. Presented by a panel of operators, along with their micro-market suppliers, this session will provide attendees with everything they need to know to implement this growing retailing option within their businesses. Topics of discussion will include steps for getting started, the benefits of this evolving growth market and real-life success stories. The Micro Market Panel is sponsored by 365 Retail Markets, Avanti Markets and ConAgra Foodservice.

Friday, April 27

Identifying and hiring ideal route drivers, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Operators must insist that route drivers perform their jobs well and provide quality customer service since they are the "face" of vending to customers. However, good

drivers are often difficult to find and retain, resulting in high turnover and increased training costs for the company. This session will feature the results of a national study in which 200 route driver profiles were collected and analyzed in order to identify the key traits of the ideal route driver. It will also help operators learn how to hire for success.

In addition, the 2012 OneShow will again feature one of its most popular education tracks, “Leveraging Technology in Vending Operations,” on Wednesday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The session will provide new insights on the latest technology advancements that are transforming the vending experience.

Dr. Michael Kasavana, NCE5, NAMA-Endowed Professor at Michigan State University, will moderate this fast-paced panel discussion. Sponsored by Apriva, Cantaloupe Systems and Visa, the session will focus on innovative apps and digital media, the surge of micro markets, recycling and cash payment options, and more. Attendees will learn how to leverage the latest technology to increase profitability, reduce expenditures and gain a competitive advantage.
