Kraft Foods Inc. has been in contact with its Tassimo Professional operators regarding recent recall announcements related to the discharge of hot, liquid coffee grounds or tea leaves from Tassimo brewers and has mailed free replacement T DISC holders.
Tassimo Professional T-65 CUL (commercial) brand brewer owners have been mailed free replacement T DISC holders designed to help prevent the discharge of hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves from the brewer. The company asked owners to stop using their brewers until they install the new T DISC holder. The replacement is simple and takes less than one minute to install. This voluntary recall does not affect the Tassimo Professional T-300 brewer, which does not require a replacement T DISC holder.
In addition, the company notified customers that certain Tassimo Professional Espresso Drink T Discs were being recalled. “We discovered that, due to a supplier manufacturing defect, certain Espresso Drink T DISCs can become clogged, and during brewing or upon opening of the brewing mechanism, hot liquid and/or coffee grounds can spray onto consumers,” the company said in a prepared statement. “We have asked our customers to stop using these T Discs. These T DISCs were sold only in the United States and Canada.”
Meanwhile, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with BHS Home Appliances Corp. of Irvine, Calif., announced a voluntary recall of Tassimo single cup brewers.
