Anita Milam has joined Atkinson Candy Co. as controller, bringing financial, accounting and IT experience to the manufacturer of nationally branded Chick-O-Sticks, Peanut Butter Bars, Long Boys and Mint Twists.
Milam, most recently with Postlethwaite & Netterville, the largest accounting firm in Louisana, has some 35 years of business knowledge. Along with her financial responsibilities, she is additionally charged with project management of Atkinson initiatives.
Atkinson President Eric Atkinson said in a prepared statement: "Anita is using her extensive software knowledge to revamp many of our systems, ensuring greater efficiencies throughout our candy production process."
Milam said the company has added a warehouse management system from AIG, of Roswell, Ga., which drastically improves accuracy in shipping. Atkinson has also installed accounting software to integrate EDI ordering and invoicing, which further streamlines the company's business processes.
