The Evansville, Ind. parks department will kick off a pilot program called "Upgrade Your Selection" in time for the holiday season to upgrade vending and concessions, with all vending machines containing 100 percent healthier options that meet specific criteria.

The Evansville, Ind. parks department will kick off a pilot program called "Upgrade Your Selection" in time for the holiday season to upgrade vending and concessions, with all vending machines containing 100 percent healthier options that meet specific criteria, such as the items will have 250 calories or less and less than 35 percent fat, 10 percent saturated fat, and 35 percent sugar, according to The Courier Press in Evansville, Ind.. Editor’s Insight: The Evansville, Ind. Parks department deserves credit for launching this program on a test basis before deciding to mandate these changes on a long-term basis. The nutrition restrictions may or may not prove popular with constituents.
