Editor’s Insight: This was an amazing segment to those of us who saw it. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell uses Herman Cain’s alleged sexual harassment case to viciously attack the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and its members.

O’Donnell mischaracterizes the NRA as a lobbying group only and accuses it of preventing the public from learning the truth about the allegations against Herman Cain. He then calls on his viewers to occupy the NRA’s Washington, D.C. office and boycott the member companies if the NRA doesn’t release details of the out of court settlement.

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows a party to a lawsuit is constrained by certain conditions, and trying to amend these conditions takes time and consideration.

Foodservice and refreshment service operators must recognize the degree to which their industry is susceptible to opportunists like Lawrence O’Donnell. Foodservice and refreshment operators should understand they need trade organizations to protect their  interests. 11-04-11 By Elliot Maras
