Wall Street Journal Examines Benefits Of A Walk In The Park Versus Coffee Break

Aug. 30, 2011

The Wall Street Journal highlighted an article on its front page titled, “Why that coffee break may be a bad idea.” The article in the “Personal Journal” section reports on research about the benefits of interacting with nature to recharge the brain. To read the article, click here.

Editor’s Insight: This article is not nearly as anti-coffee as the newspaper’s front page headline and graphic showing a coffee jumping out of a paper cup make it look. The article is about the research on the benefits of spending time with nature versus any adverse effects of coffee.

The article does note that extra caffeine can eave one feeling more stressed than before the coffee break. This is why refreshment service operators need to communicate the importance of balanced lifestyles. 08-30-11 by Elliot Maras
