25-Year Philadelphia Area Vending Veteran Len Donnelly Leaves The Industry

July 26, 2011

Len Donnelly, a 25-year veteran of the vending industry in the Delaware Valley area, recently left the industry to join Acme Corrugated Box Co., located in Hatboro, Pa., as a salesman. Acme Corrugated Box Co. was a vending customer for the company Donnelly most recently worked for in sales and customer service, RDS Vending in Norristown, Pa.

Donnelly’s father had worked for the Macke Co. in Philadelphia, Pa.

Donnelly began his vending career at Vend-Rite Services Corp. in Bensalem, Pa., a company which eventually joined USRefresh in 1997.

In 1991, Donnelly launched Delaware Valley Refreshment Services in Philadelphia, Pa.

In 2003, after selling Delaware Valley Refreshment Services to USRefresh, he launched Accu-Vend Inc. in Ordland, Pa.

In 2009, Donnelly sold Accu-Vend Inc. to RDS Vending and joined RDS in sales and customer service, a position he held until July 1, 2011.

“It was such a difficult decision to leave the vending industry because of my familiarity and expertise in this business over the past twenty some odd years,” Donnelly said in a prepared statement. “I have so many great memories, and am very grateful to all of the good people who help me grow and mature in this industry….customers, suppliers, brokers, employees and co-workers.”

He added, “After carefully examining this opportunity, I felt that a new venture was something imminent and beneficial towards my personal growth. Acme Box is an excellent company with a unique niche in the corrugated box industry. Part of me is sad to leave behind what I know so well, but the other part of me is excited about the opportunities and challenges this new endeavor brings.”
