Report: U.S. Obesity Rates Rose In Last Year

A new report from Trust for America's Health, a nonpartisan advocacy group, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, found that not one state has reported a decrease in obesity. In fact, adult obesity rates have increased in 16 states in the past year, reported ABC News.

Editor’s Insight: This report garnered a lot of national media coverage, and rightly so. Obesity remains a serious problem for the country.

Despite all the efforts to improve nutrition education and restrict certain types of foods in schools, Americans continue to gain weight.

The scientific community has not determined definitively why Americans continue to gain weight. Obesity remains a relatively new phenomenon in human history.

The food industry has stepped up to the plate and suggested reasonable regulations and has supported consumer nutrition education programs.
