Los Angeles County Health Department Tables Vending Machine Permit Fee Increase

July 22, 2014

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in California has tabled a plan to increase the per machine health permit fee from $62.00 to $275.00 per machine, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA). A group of operators that do business in Los Angeles County met with the director of the environmental health division and his staff to discuss the fee increase and the health department's program related to vending machines. The director agreed to freeze the fee at the current rate and work with the vendors on a program that will accomplish the goals of the health department to protect the public and will not impose an undue burden on vending operators.
