Canteen Vending Services Inc., a subsidiary of Compass Group North America, has acquired Coffee Distributing Corp. (CDC) from Robert, Alexander and Liza Friedman and the Friedman Family Trust, according to a statement from Compass Group PLC on the London Stock Exchange.

The statement notes that CDC is the largest office coffee and refreshment service company in the New York, New Jersey and the Connecticut area.

CDC will continue to operate under its name, and from its two existing locations in New York and New Jersey, Canteen announced.

According to CDC's Website, the company employs nearly 300 people and serves roughly 20,000 customers from its two warehouse locations in Garden City Park, N.Y. and Union, N.J.

Canteen CEO, Dennis Hogan said in a prepared statement, "Given CDC is a market leader, this acquisition allows us to solidify our presence in the region and provide wider geographic coverage in office coffee and refreshment services. We will also benefit from CDC President Bob Friedman and his staff's extensive expertise in OCS."
