Northern Illinois University Newspaper Reports On How $500,000 In Annual Vending Commissions Are Used

The student newspaper at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill. reported that the commissions from the vending machines generate $500,000 per year, more that half of which is used to support scholarships.

Editor's Insight: It would be interesting to know how the students would respond to the option of having lower prices in the vending machines. While there may not be much the students themselves can do about the prices, this would make an interesting topic for the student newspaper.
