European Vending Association Updates Energy Management Protocol

April 11, 2011
The technical committee of the European Vending Association (EVA) has updated its EVA EMP – energy measurement protocol (EMP).

The technical committee of the European Vending Association (EVA) has updated its EVA EMP – energy measurement protocol (EMP). The last version is dated from 2005. The main difference in the new version, EMP 3.0., is that the document is divided into two parts: chilled, frozen and ambient machines (EMP3.0a), and hot & cold drinks machines (EMP 3.0b).

Furthermore, the EVA technical committee will submit its EMP 3.0b protocol to CENELEC, which is the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization. The process could take one to three years, and the use of the protocol as a standard will remain voluntary, as it is now.

At present, the protocol is already very popular amongst machine manufacturers in the vending industry because its assessments respond proactively to the requirements of public procurements.

The new EVA EMP 3.0 is available to the public by simply registering on the EVA's webpage: www.vending-europe.eu/en/standards/standards-registration.html. For more information about what the EVA EMP is, visit: www.vendingeurope.eu/en/standards_protocols/eva-emp.html
