Cleveland, Ohio Considers Banning Trans Fats

The city of Cleveland, Ohio is considering prohibiting the sale of foods made with trans fat, effective Jan. 1, 2013, according to The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio.

Editor's Insight: Banning trans fats has unfortunately become a cause célèbre for politicians. This is the second report in as many days of a local or state government trying to ban trans fats.

Food and beverage companies should remind politicians that the federal government has made a lot of progress on the health and nutrition front with the calorie disclosure rules.
