Five Star Food Service Participates In Feeding the Future 5K, Raised $20,000 for Local Children

Sept. 12, 2018

Chattanooga, TN – The first annual Feeding the Future 5K raised $20,000 to support children’s programs at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. More than 80 runners and walkers crossed the finish line at the June 30th race, which started and ended at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. The family-friendly event included a 5K run, a 1 mile family run/walk and a half-mile kid’s hunger dash.

The $20,000 donation will provide 80,000 meals to children who don’t regularly have enough food to eat in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. The donation was made possible thanks to contributions from Fifty-Five Focus Strategic Sales Management, Great American Deli, Vistar and other sponsors who understand that hunger affects the way children learn and develop.

“We are extremely grateful to all the families and organizations that came together for this special event. The money raised supports the vital work to end hunger in our 20-county service region,” said Chattanooga Area Food Bank President & CEO, Gina Crumbliss.

“This year’s Feeding the Future 5K was a tremendous success; we are honored to partner with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and the other sponsors to help fight hunger in our community. We look forward to the continued growth of this wonderful event,” said C. J. Recher, Vice President of Marketing at Five Star Food Service.
