The Royal Canadian Mint has announced that it will release a new $1 and a new $2 coin early next year. The coins will have new designs that are in keeping with the current wild life series and incorporate changes to the metallic composition of the coins. These changes cause subtle differences in the electrical characteristics of the coins and result in the need to update the recognition software of the Currenza® C2 Coin Changer. Through its work with the Royal Canadian Mint, Crane Payment Solutions has already updated its recognition software for the Currenza® C2 coin changer to enable acceptance of the new coins.
