Colombia, Portrait Country At World Of Coffee 2018

June 1, 2018

June 01, 2018— The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is proud to announce that Colombia is this year’s official Portrait Country at World of Coffee Amsterdam (WOC). Taking place this year at RAI Amsterdam from June 21 – 23, WOC is Europe’s largest coffee trade show featuring the latest innovations and attracting thousands of professionals every year.

Each year, the SCA partners with a coffee producing country to highlight the work of its farmers and the unique characteristics of their coffees. This year, the SCA is delighted to welcome Colombia, represented by the brand Café de Colombia, as the official Portrait Country. Café de Colombia’s participation at WOC is a testament of the country’s impact on the specialty industry, which has seen the launch of several Colombian single original coffee editions in 2018, and a recognition of the quality, diversity, and sustainability of Colombian coffee.

Juan Valdez, the iconic representative of Colombia’s coffee farmers, said, "To understand why Colombian coffee is among the best in the world, you must know that the lives of more than 550,000 families are all about coffee. For us, coffee is not only our work— coffee is our culture. To be able to show and taste the diversity of our coffee on a platform such as World of Coffee in Amsterdam is a privilege and an honor for me. I am looking forward to meeting everyone there."

Café de Colombia is the brand representing the work, care, and passion of 550,000 Colombian coffee growing families. With a special program developed for this year’s event, Café de Colombia will showcase the country’s diverse offering of coffees throughout the show.
